Benefits

This kit allows you to restore your vintage Remington trigger to original condition. You can also use to select your trigger pull weight preference based on the type of shooting you do. This high quality set of six springs fits nearly all Remington pump and semi-auto rifles and shotguns – which use the trigger assembly as pictured

Trigger springs included

The trigger spring kit includes a replacement hammer spring as well as five different trigger springs in different pull weights:

• Ultralight 1.25lb to 1.5lb (black color)
• Light 1.75lb to 2lb (silver color)
• Medium ~3lb (grey color)
• Factory ~4lb (charcoal color)
• Heavy ~5lb (light blue zinc color)

Note: we measure the factory trigger at 4lb (based on the Remington 7600 rifle), the ratings given can vary slightly when fitted to different firearms* and when installed correctly.

Aside from three lighter pull weights, the kit includes a factory weight spring should you wish to bring your trigger back to original specification, as well as a heavier spring for cold climate shooting with heavy gloves.

The new hammer spring will both correct light primer strikes due to an old or worn spring as well as correct/improve lock time – the proper function of both being crucial for maintaining accuracy.

Material

The hammer spring is made from stainless steel. The trigger springs are made from spring steel then plated for both easy identification and to maximize corrosion resistance.

Installation

Important: all trigger work including testing needs to be done on an unloaded rifle! If unsure on installation, we strongly advise to have the job done by a qualified and competent gunsmith.

Testing your trigger

Lumley designed and tested the springs provided in this kit to be safe. However every trigger is different and it is imperative to ensure that your trigger is safe after installation.

Test the trigger function with the replaced trigger spring extensively upon reassembly by slam closing the bolt and dropping the rifle onto the butt pad. Obviously the trigger must not fall during these tests. However if it does, adjust it and repeat these tests untill your trigger is safe. Please always ensure you have a safe trigger.

In our own tests, 1.25lb is the minimum pull weight that this trigger assembly will achieve by replacing the spring and polishing the sear and hammer. By replacing the trigger spring alone you can expect 1.5lb in an unmodified trigger assembly.

* Results may vary slightly between individual rifles and shotguns and are dependent on the trigger pull gauge, factory tolerances and whether any other modifications have been done to the trigger. Our pull weight is measured using an RCBS gauge.
