This titanium Sako TRG bolt handle with carbon fibre tactical bolt know is a direct, screw in replacement your orginal Sako factory bolt handle. Note that this bolt handle is compatible only with pre-2013 Sako models.

Benefit

Lumley CNC turns these bolt handles from aerospace (Grade 5) titanium alloy then bead blast and apply a highly durable Cerakote-H finish to match the color of the TRG’s metalwork. With this bolt handle you can fit just about any aftermarket bolt knob to your Sako TRG rifle. For example the tactical bolt knobs we sell on this website.

The factory handle attaches to the bolt with a relatively weak M6 x 1mm thread (comparable to 1/4″) where M10 or 3/8″ would have been more appropriate. Many customers buy this handle replace a factory handle that has snapped. The 2013+ update models don’t appear to have these issues.

Note: this products includes also the carbon fibre tactical bolt knob.

Construction

Note: this bolt handle is for pre-2013 Sako’s only!

Sako has changed the design of bolt handles in TRG 22 and TRG 42 models made from 2013 onwards. If you are unsure, remove your factory handle, take a a few photo’s and email it to us through our website. We will do our best to confirm compatibility.

This handle fits the following pre-2013 models:

• Sako TRG 21, 22, 41, 42
• TRG-S and M995

Fitting guide

The factory handle of the TRG 22 and TRG 42 is threaded directly into the bolt body using a metric M6 x 1 thread. Also it has a threaded stem for bolt knobs in M8 x 1.25.

The factory handle can be removed by firstly removing the factory knob. It’s best to do this by wrapping the handle in a strip of thick leather. Secure it firmly in a bench vise with the bolt body positioned parallel to the vise jaws. The bolt body can now be rotated anti-clockwise to unscrew from the handle.

Clean the threads if necessary then screw the new titanium handle using the smaller threaded end (M6 x 1) into the bolt body firmly by hand. Following this screw tje bolt knob onto the end of the bolt handle – again firmly by hand.

Notes:

• The strip of thick leather (or padded vice jaws) serve to grip the bolt handle firmly and avoid marring the finish.
• Never use excessive force to unscrew the factory handle. This may result in it breaking / snapping of the factory bolt handle.
• If using a thread locking compound to attach the bolt handle or bolt knob, we don’t recommend using anything stronger than purple Loctite (222) or equivalent
